Unit Summary:
This unit will focus on Cajun heritage and language which is not included in the textbook adopted by the school district. Students in South Louisiana are often exposed to and highly interested in the language of their ancestors and this unit is designed to give them knowledge of specific phrases and patterns to assist them in learning the language of their grandparents. In addition it will explain cultural elements that have helped shape Louisiana’s heritage (food, festivals, music, language, etc.). It will culminate with a technology project that varies on ability and interests.
